Laura and Morgan’s Travel fund!

Donation protected
Dear friends of the Oldhams,
As most of you know, Wynn was hospitalized last week and Laura made the decision to take a leave of absence from the "Chicago" tour to be here for a couple of months.  Actors Equity offers a option that is somewhat like a Family Medical Leave type arrangement so that she is eligible to receive a portion of her income during that period.  Wynn and Henry are also prepared to help Laura financially during this period (and are, of course, thrilled to have her here) but they are obviously facing long term expenses of their own as they have gone to 24/7 caregivers, etc.

In the (almost) 2 years that Laura and Morgan have been married, they have been apart more than they have been together due to Laura's national and international tours. Since Wynn's diagnosis, Laura has been able to make Huntsville her home base.  That has allowed her to be flown to Huntsville at each break in the tour schedule instead of NYC. Whereas that has been great for Wynn and Henry and has allowed Laura the most time with them, it has meant even less time with Morgan.  Wynn has used frequent flyer miles to fly Morgan here when he could take off work but that hasn't always gone as planned.  He flew in for one day for Laura's birthday and that was the day that Wynn was hospitalized.  Not only was he only here for 24 hours but they didn't get to keep their dinner reservation and honestly didn't feel much like celebrating.

Many of us have been here whenever we could, brought meals, taken Wynn or Henry to doctor visits, lunch, bridge, etc. and generally just tried to do whatever we can to boost the Oldham's spirits but many of us don't know how to help. Laura has great support from Michael and John but she has accepted responsibility to be here 24/7 and try and take care of both Wynn and Henry's needs right now.  She is doing a wonderful job but the daily grind can be very frustrating and emotionally draining.

I know that none of them would want to accept money from any of us but I was thinking that if we started a fund that would allow Laura and Morgan to feel like he could afford to miss a few days of work  occasionally to come to Huntsville and allow them to buy a plane ticket for him without asking her parents to cover it would go a long way in boosting their spirits. Just the thought of having her husband here occasionally to help as well as to provide emotional support would be a huge boost in morale.

Absolutely no pressure to give but if you are looking for a way to help out, this could be an option.  Gifts can be small and even anonymous, if you choose.

I know that they have been overwhelmed by all of the  support, prayers, food, errands, etc. that so many of you have offered. They are very blessed to have such a great community of friends and family.  This is one small way in which we can continue to help if you choose to particiapte!

Thanks so much for your consideration!
