Laura Wickenheiser's Last Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
This past year has been the most difficult time to date for me and my family. My mom has been battling stage 4 cancer since March. My dad is working full time just to make ends meet and stay afloat while being her full time caregiver. I am so proud of him. The love and dedication he has for her is so rare and so beautiful, it is something we can all learn from.
We are doing the best we can as a family. After many painful and depleting attempts at chemo and radiation treatments, we are now stopping treatment and she is receiving hospice care at home. The hospice nurse has just told us she could have weeks or months left. No one knows for sure. Mom is not able to have visitors or phone calls at this time. If you knew my mother and would like to record a short video wishing her well, please feel free to send it to me and i will sit with her and watch it.
Expenses are piling up as we try to make her comfortable as she nears the end of this life. Funeral expenses are another huge financial burden we are now needing to plan for. Any donation or show of support is appreciated more than you could ever know by my family and I. Life is short. Savor your life and your time with the ones you care about, because our time here is uncertain. I love you all.
Laura Wickenheiser is one of the most vibrant, intensely caring people to ever walk this earth. She has been an amazing caregiver to the mentally and physically disabled and elderly and to her own family and loved ones. It is now time that she is the one being cared for. I love you mom.
