Launch Fee’s for The Silk Rags Project

Donation protected
Hello,

Would you know what to say and do if a friend received a cancer diagnosis?

The Silk Rags Project’ is an educational reading and listening experience that explores this theme through the lives of a group of friends.

It can be read at home in a group, a community setting or even as a staged theatrical production.

‘The Silk Rags Project’ is a conversational starter about cancer and also raises funds for The Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

After 10 long years of hard work, glad times and sad times, our social enterprise business is finally being launched on World Cancer Research Day - 24 September 2022 - and we would love your help in paying for our start up resources and the professional marketing needed to progress this important project.

Our Background:

The Silk Rags Project was written by two Tamborine Mountain women while undergoing their own cancer treatments.

Briohne Sykes wrote the script and Dee Handyside composed, recorded and produced the soundtrack.

The project entertains and educates people about the important communication issues raised.

Having teamed with Griffith University to develop an educational handout, this social enterprise business is also an endorsed fundraiser for The Australian Cancer Research Foundation to which it donates 50% of profits.

Why do we need help now?

Sadly, Briohne passed away in 2018. Dee has funded the entire project so far and after securing National and International media interest Pre-Covid, The Silk Rags Project is finally ready to be launched as a Host@Home kit on World Cancer Research Day - 24 September 2022.

Funds are needed to cover our initial resources and to pay a professional marketing company to ensure that this important and unique product gets the exposure it deserves.

Our wonderful community of Tamborine Mountain, SE Queensland, Australia are donating prizes for an auction at our official launch event and monies raised that day will go towards our target. If you are local, we’d love you to come along!

In the meantime, if you are able to donate to help us get to the minimum of $10,000 to assist with our launch fees, we would very much appreciate it.

You can find out more about ‘The Silk Rags Project’ as well as our story at our website -

On behalf of Briohne’s family and myself, THANK YOU for helping our 10 year dream come true.

Regards,
