Las Vegas Mental Health Relief

Hi, this is Marissa with Project 1 in 4 . Just over a week ago, a joyous Las Vegas concert festival rapidly transformed into a war zone beyond anyone’s worst nightmare. 58 people never made it home that night to their loved ones, approximately 500 were seriously physically injured, and thousands were traumatized.

This tragedy will leave a lifetime of emotional scars along with the physical ones, even among those who weren’t anywhere near the horrific event. Those who experienced the attack saw things humans aren’t meant to see. Others were traumatized from afar, sick with worry about loved ones attending the festival.

While healing for some will be swift, for others it will be measured incrementally over weeks, months and years. As a result of this tragedy, it is certain that some will face a mental health struggle such as PTSD, an anxiety disorder or depression, through no fault of their own.

At Project 1 in 4, we cannot fathom the emotional distress and mental anguish inflicted upon all survivors of this tragedy—including loved ones of those lost and seriously injured—and want to do anything we can to support their mental health and well-being as everyday life resumes. It is truly incredible and inspiring to see millions of dollars raised to fund victims and families seriously impacted by this unspeakable, horrific tragedy, but we also know that thousands of people are now dealing with invisible wounds we cannot see.

This is why we’ve partnered with GoFundMe to launch a national fundraising campaign exclusively dedicated to supporting the mental health of the survivors of this impossibly painful and tragic day. More specifically, the donations raised will be used to fund a network of partners who can provide free long-term trauma and counseling and mental health services to those in need of care, beyond initial community efforts. Currently we are working swiftly to identify the best partners for this effort and we will update the page each step of the way.
