The Final Step

My name is Josh. And I have a storied past. One that includes despair, destitution, and ultimately redemption. 
 
 I am an older, non-traditional student. And I have spent most of my adult life as an alcoholic, living in and out of the streets. I have lived under bridges and in sleazy motels. But a few years back, I was able to turn my life around. I finally got my high school diploma. Soon after, I was accepted to Iowa State University. 
 
 I have been at ISU for a few years and have worked very hard to build a good academic reputation. The Dean's List has recognized me nearly every semester.  And I am well on my way to getting my degree and becoming a productive member of society. But I have a bit more schooling to do. And I will need to raise support in order to continue and finish my education. 

This Fall marks my final semester of schooling. After which, I will earn my degree. But I have maxed out all the grant and loan money that was available to me. So there is no financing available for me in order to take that last step toward graduation. So I am turning to this site for help. 
 
 The streets were all I had ever known before I came to college. I had previously never lived a normal life. And now that I am getting closer to building a normal life, I don't want to lose what I have worked for. Now that I have the opportunity to work toward my life and career goals, I seek to keep moving forward until I reach those heights. But in order to do that, I will need to complete my final semester of college. 
 
 
The opportunity to earn my degree depends on your support. And if you provide the support, I will provide the work ethic it takes to graduate and to build a life beyond college. If you support me, I can keep pressing and grinding until the day comes that I finally wear that cap and gown.
