As soon as we started volunteering at the school we realized how much help these kids and the school directors needed. Not only were we able to see the things the school lacked, but we also experienced it.
They couldn’t afford basic things such as Band-Aids and antiseptic, which are necessary in a school, and kids had to go home with open wounds and a bleeding knee. This is something that is unthinkable back home.
Another shocking thing we saw is that, whenever they had to write something on their textbooks, not everyone started writing at the same time, but rather waited for their classmate to finish copying whatever was on the board to use their pen/pencil afterwards. Most kids couldn’t even afford a pen for themselves.
When it comes to food, it was heartbreaking to see these kids get extremely excited over rice, which is something they only get to eat once a year. The food they give the kids on a daily basis isn’t nutritious at all, but it is all they can afford, and given that some of the kids only have one meal per day (the one they are given at the school), we felt as if we had to do something to change the situation. Our goal is to raise enough money to be able to feed the kids for a year and buy them the necessary school supplies for this time.
We hope you can help us achieve our goal and that you contribute in any way possible. Don’t think a small amount doesn’t change anything. 0,5$ will feed a kid for a whole day (breakfast + heavy lunch) and 3$ will provide enough school material for one kid. Thank you in advance.

En cuanto empezamos a ser voluntarias en el colegio, nos dimos cuenta de cuánta ayuda necesitaban tanto los niños como los directores del colegio. No solo pudimos ver todas las cosas que al colegio le faltaba, sino que pudimos experimentarlas nosotras mismas.
No podían permitirse cosas básicas como tiritas y desinfectante, que son necesarias en un colegio, y los niños tenían que irse a casa con heridas abiertas y rodillas ensangrentadas.
Otra cosa que nos sorprendió fue que, cuando tenían que escribir algo en sus cuadernos, no todos los alumnos escribían al mismo tiempo, sino que esperaban a que su compañero terminase de copiar aquello que estaba en la pizarra para poder tomar prestado su bolígrafo o lápiz. La mayoría de los niños no podían siquiera permitirse comprar un bolígrafo para cada uno.
Sobre el tema de la comida, era verdaderamente triste ver cómo los niños se emocionaban por algo tan simple como un plato de arroz, que allí solo se lo pueden permitir una vez al año. La comida que les dan a los niños en el día a día no es nutricional, pero no pueden permitirse comprar otra cosa. Dado que muchos de los niños solo comen una vez al día, nos hemos visto obligadas a hacer algo para cambiar la situación. Nuestro objetivo es recaudar suficiente dinero como para alimentar a los niños durante un año y comprarles el material escolar suficiente para este periodo de tiempo.
Esperamos que nos podáis ayudar a conseguir nuestro objetivo y que contribuyáis de cualquier manera posible. No penséis que una cantidad pequeña no va a cambiar nada. 0,5$ es suficiente para alimentar a un niño durante un día entero (desayuno + comida) y 3$ proporcionará suficiente material escolar para un niño.
