Laska - Rebuilding from Fire

My name is Marie Laska, I was raised in Princeton BC and some of you might know my parents Irena and George Laska, owners of Laska Flooring. Their lives (and livelihood) were recently devastated by the Princeton wildfire this past weekend, after it razed their property on Summers Creek Road leaving them in complete shock and grief seeing their flooring business, showroom, inventory and tools disappear in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately there was no fire insurance.
Approximately 35 years ago they were in their twenties and made the incredibly brave decision to escape a communist regime to be able to give us kids (they had three kids under the age of 5 at that time) a better life. They were accepted as refugees into Canada after many months on the run and in hiding across Europe, and landed in BC with no money and no possessions, but huge hopes for their family.
Since then they have built their farm and their business and continue to this day to be the hardest working, most tenacious people that I know.
They never ask for help, but this fire has taken so much and my dad is now in his sixties and the task of rebuilding is absolutely crippling.
Many people have verbalized support and have asked what they can do.
This. Please know that this is what you can do.
My dad estimates that he lost approximately $150,000 in the fire, and I don't know how to even set a goal around the loss :( . The money raised here will go completely and directly towards replacing professional flooring tools that have been lost, inventory (i.e. underlay, strips, stair noses), architectural flooring samples (to be able to show to potential customers to bring in new orders), and if there's any remaining, to put towards the costs of rebuilding. Without start-up basics such as tools and simple inventory my dad won't be able to take on any new work orders.
The money is also set up to go directly into my parents' flooring business account through the Credit Union in town.
As much as my family - and myself- struggle with asking for help, this event is too big for us to tackle on our own.
