Who She Is:
LaShonda Jackson is a strong, encouraging, and wonderful woman. She is a wife of 22 years to her high school sweetheart Greg, mother of two sons - Jonathan (17) & Jalen (11), and she is an Employee of Fiat Chrysler Automoibles of Auburn Hills, Michigan. LaShonda  is a hands-on mom who takes care of all daily chores, responsibilities, and activities in a happy manner. She does this so her two sons can go through their lives as smooth and stress-free as possible. She strives to make sure that things always were organized and a certain way to ensure success.
LaShonda is an equal team player to her husband Greg with the daily responsibilities that have to be done. She especially is a great mother to her two sons! Her oldest Jonathan expressed that she strives to receive as many scholarships as available so that life can be made as stress-free as possible. He graduates in 2017, and then he's off to college. Her youngest Jalen expressed that she always strives to make sure her "baby" remain #1 in any sport that he encounters. He enjoys playing Football, Basketball, and Baseball ANYTIME he can. Just the fact that she could juggle all of the events that go on with her children, work on a daily basis, and remain happy, it makes one ask "how much better can someone get?" One of her passions was church. Boy does she love church! Rather if it was on her own in the car listening to 102.7, or at church clapping her hands and listening to the word, she loves praising God. Most people view LaShonda  as a 5 foot, heart of gold, planner/organizer, and a big encourager. She is just a joy to be around, and a true blessing.

What happened:
3 months ago, LaShonda took an annual exam at the doctors office that she needed to have done to keep her insurance up to date. Normally the physicals went well, so she had no worries. After taking all of the tests needed to complete this visit, she waited for the results. The doctors checked for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc. The results showed that she exceeds being healthy. LaShonda then bragged to her husband about her perfect bill of health, and now she could now get him off of her back about eating healthier. She was more healthy than him.
Sunday October 30, 2016, Jonathan had to work from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. Before leaving for work, he said "Bye mom, have a good day" and left the house not thinking he wouldn't be returning home after his shift to things being normal. The rest of the family prepared to go to church as normal Sunday's would go. Sometimes Greg and Jalen would go to another church so that Jalen could get the Youth praise that he loves to attend. Because Jonathan wouldn't be home to go to church with her, she decided at the last minute to go with her husband and youngest son to church. She was already able to shower and get totally dressed before this lifechanging event happened.
She was in the kitchen making herself some breakfast while talking to Jalen. When she went to close the refrigerator she slammed it forcefully, instead of closing it softly like she normally would. Because of that, my brother noticed something unusual about her. Jalen then ran into the other room and told my dad in a soft voice "there's something wrong with Mom, Dad!" Greg didn't move at first due to not hearing what Jalen said. He said it again in a louder manner. Greg then ran into the kitchen where LaShonda was and he assessed the situation. She was standing there frozen, standing straight up, and could not move. The only thing she could do was move her eyes back and forth. Greg grabbed her under her arms and carried her into the living room.
LaShonda was not physically responsive. The only choice that she had was to let tears roll down her face. The paramedics were called and were soon on the way. Once they arrived, they started to run a series of tests which concluded in sensing  stroke symptoms. Greg had to ask the important question. It was hard but he pushed it out. He asked "Is my wife having a stroke?" The paramedic replied "I really can't tell you. We would just have to get her to the hospital and make the determination."
Once they arrived at the hospital, they ran various  tests to find out what the cause of this stroke was. The doctors found that a blood clot was on the left side of her brain which totally shut down the right side of her body. The doctor tried to figure out where this could've come from by speaking with Greg. He wasn't sure. The doctors needed to act fast! They decided to airlift  her to another hospital which was located downtown Detroit. Airlifting services were not available at the time due to the rainy weather. They decided to transport her by ambulance downtown. Jonathan and family met her there. She went immediate surgery to remove the clot as soon as she reached the hospital. Time was of the essence so that the damages after this process wouldn't be as extensive. The doctors informed us that if we did not act as fast, she could've ended up dead. The surgery ended very well and the doctors were super surprised as to how she was fighting through this like a champ.
About 24 hours later, the doctors discovered swelling in her brain. The period of brain swelling is up to 5 days before the result of death. The doctors wanted to act quickly, so they asked permission to do another surgery. The family collectively agreed on the surgery to save her life. She is now being held in ICU and will be there for about two months.
The process thus far has been treacherous to the family and friends that love LaShonda deeply. Prayers are definetely being made due to everyone wanting a speedy recovery.

Her Boys:

Greg: "My wife is my lifeline. My other half. My heart. My everything. I can't do this without her. She's done an amazing job raising my boys and I don't take that for granted. I honestly couldn't ask for a better wife and I mean that. The amount of love I have for her stretches farther than the world. That's just the love of my life. Always and forever. I'm so glad that I was able to help my love at a serious time like that. We ride together through everything. I honestly believe that God will answer all prayers and allow her to become even healthier than she was before. He has his hands on her!"

Jonathan: "Honestly I just can't stand to see my mother like that. From seeing her fight hard on a daily basis to make sure everyone she came in contact with had a wonderful day. How did this happen to her? It's like a dream! A scary dream! I just want this process to be slow enough for this to never happen again but fast enough to get her back in the house so we can reconnect. I want her to be able to see her oldest off to prom! Especially at my graduation!!! Man oh man I can't even imagine her not being able to come. God please help my mother make a full recovery. That's my ride or die...Please!"

Jalen: "I love my mom. More than anything. From the hugs, to the kisses, to even the dance moments we had, I just miss her. I need her to come home. There's so much I still want to find out about! I can't imagine my life without her being by my side. I just want a full recovery. I'm sure my prayers will work! I'm just glad I was there to help her. If I wasn't there, I don't know what would've happened. I'm proud to say that I helped my best friend out :)."

A Bible Verse that is touching for a time like this is Isaiah 41:10:

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Thank you:

It's honestly amazing to see how many people have shown love and support towards the Jackson family. Literally speechless. From our family to yours, we say THANK YOU!! The blessings help us get through our everyday lives and makes this process a little less heartbreaking just knowing that she's loved at such a high capacity. We don't take it for granted, trust us! Please keep our family in your prayers as we endure this process of recovery.

At this time, LaShonda is not able to have Visitors so that she can rest/recover soon.

Our goal is to reach $15,000 to help LaShonda with her medical bills, expenses, and to allow things to still flow smoothly at home. With your help, we can achieve this goal and then some! Please only give what you can. This is just a way to show support if you would like to.
