Lars's Fight Against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

This last month Lars was diagnosed with Lymphoma, after dealing with a seemingly harmless sore throat. After struggling with his breathing due to the size of the tumor growing off of his tonsil, Lars underwent a tonsillectomy. Post-surgery Lars learned that the lump on his tonsil was larger than a golf ball, but the doctors seemed certain that the lump was not cancerous. Unfortunately, testing indicated that he has Diffuse Large B-Cell, Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma.  The timing was synchronistic and very heavy, as Lars and his partner Chantael had just returned home from Japan, where they attended the memorial of his dear friend Sachi, who had recently passed away from cancer.

While the news has been really hard for his family, friends, and loved ones, Lars is in good spirits and has a lot of fight in him. His cancer is in the early stages and he was informed that it is treatable. Lars is also blessed to have one of the best cancer doctors on the West Coast. A recent pet scan showed that the cancer has not spread to other parts of his body, but there is a new lump on his other tonsil. Lars has four rounds of chemo coming up which will take a major physical, emotional, and financial toll. Any help will be appreciated, as Lars has had to cancel an opportunity to work at Art Basel and will be unable to do much of any work during this time. Funds raised will go towards medical bills, insurance, and living expenses.

Lars has a huge heart and cares deeply about communities and people. He’s an artist and an activist and he uses his art to inspire people to stand up for what is right. He said the other day that he has at least a 1,000 more murals to create in his lifetime. But in order for him to do that he has to beat cancer first. Your support can help him beat this.
