Larry W. Holloman

Earlier this year, Larry found out that he has prostate cancer.  Surgery to remove his prostate was scheduled back in April.  But the day before surgery while being prepped for the procedure, the anesthesiologist halted it because Larry’s heart was only operating at 25%.  If he had had a heart attack during surgery, they would not be able to bring him back.

Shortly thereafter, Larry underwent two heart surgeries to insert a stent and put in a defibrillator.  After all of that, his cardiologist stated that his heart is still too weak to risk taking out the cancerous prostate.

Larry’s doctor at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, told him last month that his cancer is spreading and that it is currently at stage 3.  Larry cannot undergo rigorous anesthesia because of his poor heart condition.  His best option is to undergo a procedure that is not covered by insurance here in the United States.  There are significant costs associated with this surgery and treatment.   However, this procedure has proven to have tremendous results.  His surgeon has performed this procedure many times and is confident of Larry’s results.  Without this procedure, Larry and his family can only watch the cancer take over his body.  His doctor is optimistic that he can successfully remove the cancer cells with this procedure but he must move fast.

This is his second bout with cancer.  In 2003, he had colon cancer and through a successful surgery, and the help of God, he was cured of it.

Larry is a husband, father of three children, and grandfather of seven.  He has a 92 year old mother, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, a host of other family and friends praying for him.  He is very active in his small hometown community of Ahoskie, N.C.  Larry has taught in the school system and coached multiple high school sports for 26 years.   He has been an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a life member for over 30 years.  He sits on several boards and committees giving back to his town and county.   More importantly, he loves the Lord.

Please contribute as much as you can afford, so Larry W. Holloman can have a chance at life.

On behalf of his daughter, Alecia, who has created this fundraiser, and his entire family, thank you for your support.
