Larry Hildes Medical Fund

In February 2017, Local civil rights attorney, Larry Hildes, was admitted to St. Joseph hospital in his home of Bellingham, Washington, where he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, an extremely serious condition that, if not properly treated and monitored, can and will result in death. More than one year after his disgnosis, Larry is up and about, but he remains on oxygen 24/7 and his overall health is extremely fragile.
With his wife, Karen Weil, who is also his legal assistant, Larry has been working an exhausting and stress-filled schedule for years now, often in a pro bono capacity or for little pay, representing the disadvantaged and downtrodden - from those illegally arrested, to those suffering from police harassment and brutality, to those incarcerated for committing acts of civil disobedience, to those suffering from the crimes of coal companies - the list goes on and on.
Larry and Karen have been helping others for a long time, and now they are in need of help from their friends during this time of great financial need. It will be some time before Larry can resume a normal work schedule. This of course means that a life which has often been tight financially now has gotten even tighter - and this on top of massive health bills.
Please contribute what you can to help out in this time of need. The funds will all go toward paying immediate medical needs for Larry, and will also go to keeping the lights on and the mortgage paid as needed.
The need here is big - as big as the hearts of these two marvelous people who have given so much back to their community.
