I have started this page in hopes of helping some great friends through a devastating situation.
My good friend Larry Evola was diagnosed about a year ago with Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). He and his family have been through a lot over the last year while enduring the treatments needed to slow the growth of his tumor.
Larry and Jeannie have been married for 26 years and have two beautiful daughters Marissa and Lauren. Larry’s daughters are both in college and are due to graduate this spring.
Larry is a Marine and served his country for 4 years in the late 80's. While enlisted he was based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
From the 1950s through the 1980s, people living or working at the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune were exposed to drinking water found to be contaminated with industrial solvents including benzene, and other chemicals.
The VA recognizes that Veterans, Reservists, and National Guard members exposed to the contaminants found in the water supply at Camp Lejeune have developed several diseases and cancers. Unfortunately, Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer) is not one of the diseases covered by the VA . Needless to say Larry like so many other veterans has been unable to secure much if any help from the VA.
Larry has been a US Postal worker for 25 years and due to his cancer has been unable to work for a year. Needless to say this horrible disease has placed a financial burden on Larry and his family. I have started this fund to give his friends and family the opportunity to help them through this challenging time.
At a time like this Larry’s family should not have to worry about finances. They should be able to focus their attention on his medical care, enjoying one another & creating lasting memories.
Larry has handled these circumstances like a Marine with fortitude and courage. A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but the strength of his heart.
