<div>There are no large dedicated trials on RA and IBD and dietary intervention using the ketogenic or carnivore diet. The largest published evidence in IBD is a 2024 case series of 10 patients on mostly carnivore-ketogenic diets—who all achieved remission with big quality-of-life gains. But it was small, uncontrolled. We need better research, and we need it now.

<div>The title for the study is: Effectiveness and Efficacy of a Ketogenic or Carnivore (Lion) Diet for Quality Life and Symptom Burden in Individuals with Symptomatic Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Randomized Clinical Trial

<div>The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and efficacy of a ketogenic or carnivore (lion) diet for quality of life and symptom burden in individuals with symptomatic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

<div>We hypothesize that the implementation of the ketogenic diet and the carnivore (lion) diet as either an adjunctive therapy or monotherapy will improve health related quality of life and decrease symptom burden in those with symptomatic IBD or RA.

<div>This is an incredible study. We're going to be monitoring 160 people with IBD or RA, over a period of 6 months, walking them through dietary intervention and control groups, and running multiple tests throughout. My hope is this will be large enough to really shake the understanding of chronic disease to its core (dependent on the results of course).

<div>For those unfamiliar with my background, I was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis as a child. I had my ankle and hip replaced at 17, and was in an unbelievable amount of pain for about 20 years of my life, on immune suppressants that were ineffective. I put that into remission with dietary intervention, astounding my doctors.
