HELP OUR JUNIOR FUNDRAISERS GET BACK ON TRACK AFTER THEFT OF EQUIPMENT CASH   Who we are LARC are <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lymington.rowingclub">Lymington Amateur Rowing Club</a> .  We’ve been around for over 125 years and have a thriving junior squad with 20 local 13 to 17 year olds who meet every week, whatever the weather, to train.  Over the summer they’d raised around £400, from cake bakes and car boot sales, towards new equipment.  So we felt sick to have to tell them their hard earned cash had been stolen in a <a href="https://www.advertiserandtimes.co.uk/lymington-rowing-club">break in to our new clubhouse</a>  last weekend.  It would mean a lot if you could help them get their fundraising back on track.   What we do For us, it's about more than winning races. Rowing builds skills like teamwork, resilience and determination in young people.  When you’re in a crew with other people they all depend on each other to turn up, do their best and move the boat together.  You can’t sleep in, slack off or sulk when things go wrong.  And it’s not just an experience for a privileged few. LARC is run by volunteers and keeps membership fees low – just £10 a month - to make it accessible to all.   What’s our goal? We have a waiting list for new rowers but we need more equipment to get them afloat.  That doesn’t come cheap but our volunteer members fundraise to make sure the club has boats, blades (rowing speak for oars) and other bits. The money our juniors worked so hard to raise was going towards a set of sculling blades, which will enable us to get more rowers out on the water at the same time.  They cost £1,500 and will be in service for up to 20 years.  But the sooner we can buy them, the sooner we can get more people into rowing, racing and involved in the LARC community.  Thank you Everyone who donates will get an invitation to a thank you event to look around the club, meet our young rowers, and learn more about what makes LARC so special.
