Laramie and Matt Shepard Foundation

The Theater Company of Saugus  is presenting Moises Kauffman's The Laramie Project  in conjunction with Susan Burk  and The Matthew Shepard Foundation March 4th-13th 2016 directed by Jason Hair-Wynn

TCS unfortunately lost their home in December post auditions and casting and had to find a new space to temporarily rent for the production. We will be performing in a black box at the high school. This provides an even better opportunity to engage with students, parents, teachers.

One of the reasons The Laramie Project  is being presented is to share the real-life story to a community that may not otherwise know of 21 year old Matthew Shepard who was abducted, savagely beaten, tied to a fence and killed for being gay. The Tectonic Theater Project  based in NYC traveled to Laramie, WY over the course of two years to interview the towns people, friends, neighbors, and attend the court proceedings. The company in turn created a truly profound piece that provides factual accounts and personal testimony from the community. This piece is important to our culture of people to be reminded of the magnitude in which people hate, and how and what we can do to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again. The Laramie Project provides a multitude of educational opportunites both silently as an introspective individual and of large scale discussion.

Our goal is to raise money for The Matthew Shepard Foundation as well as our production.

A portion of proceeds from each ticket sold to our production will also be donated to the The Matthew Shepard Foundation .

This production is composed by Brian Nickerson

Your donations will go toward educational materials that can provided at our production, talk-backs, etc. Your donation will provide us the ability to be effective in our educational and dramatic presentation, help with our marketing to ensure we can raise money, as well as production elements such as: Video presentations with actual archival footage or any other elements developed throughout the process.

Our goal is to provide theater that inspires, educates, and provides change. Please help us in our pursuit for a most beautiful production. We want to engage the community as well as the youth.

My name is Jason Hair-Wynn  and I am the director of the piece. I have worked for the Governors task force on hate crimes  as well as various other LGBTQ organizations and speakers bureus. I was featured on MTV Fight For Your Rights  and have traveled the country at schools and universities to speak regarding bullying, hate, and above all love. Please consider helping our production, the community as well as The Matthew Shepard Foundation.  This production is very personal to me, and it would be beautiful to know that there are people out there near and far who may want to contribute and help us in our goals of spreading the message of love, understanding, peace, and most of all 'H-O-P-E'.

Any donation of $10 or more that we receive, your name will be printed in our playbill as a thank you for being part of our community and production by your contribution. Unless your preference is anonymity.
