"To whom much is given, much is required" -Luke 12:48

Jesse and I met in 2014, and from the moment I met him I just knew something was different about him.  One year later he proposed, and a year after that we got married.  Our lives have truly been so blessed together, and I am so fortunate to have married the love of my life and my best friend.  While we were dating we talked about my health issues and the liver transplant that I had when I was a baby.  I remember the day I told him that it might be hard for me to conceive a child because of that. His immediate response was that he loved me so much and that everything would happen according to God‘s plan.  It was in that moment that I knew, without a doubt in my mind, that this was the man I would spend the rest of my life with.  We both knew that we wanted a family, and so together we agreed to trust God to build that family.

About a year ago I had this feeling in my heart that Jesse and I were being called to adopt a baby.  I kept thinking that maybe we would get pregnant and that adoption could be a part of our future.  For a year I didn't say anything to anyone and kept pushing aside what I knew was a burning flame in my heart.  Finally on Christmas Eve I decided to bring it up to Jesse and his immediate response was "YES!"   I cried with excitment over the possibility of becoming parents together.  The next few days consisted of a lot of research and a whole lot of praying.  From there we picked an agency, started the process and got approved almost immediately!

We both truly believe that this will be the biggest and greatest adventure of our lives and we couldn't be more excited!  "To whom much is given, much is required" is a verse from Luke 12:48 that we have both repeatedly been hearing, and we believe it to be so true to our lives and this venture we are embarking on.  Truly, so much has been given to us.  We have a beautiful life together, and we cannot wait to share that beautiful life with our baby.

With all this being said, adoption is a very expensive venture, and we are humbly reaching out to all our family and friends to help us offset some of the costs associated with adopting our baby.  As in any adoption, there is not a guaranteed timeline, but we are expecting everything to really start moving along by April 2018.  Every dollar will help us, and we are so excited to one day tell our child that it was the support of our friends and family that helped bring him/her home to us.

We are also asking for prayers for us, for the birth mom and for our baby!  We would not be where we are in our lives without our faith, so we are asking all our friends and family to lift us up in prayer as we embark on this journey.

We will be posting updates throughout this process on here and on social media so stay tuned!

Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts!

Love,
Shannon & Jesse Lapp
