Lands end to Torbay Hospital walk fundraiser.

Hi, to everyone who doesn't know me, my name is Mike and my wife is called Kate and we have recently married and have 5 children, Chloe, Jessica, Jenson, Rosie, and Joshua our Angel.

Last year we had our first daughter together called Rosie, she was born at 34 weeks following a traumatic birth and spent 3 weeks in specialist care in Torbay hospital SCBU. The staff were incredible and made a very difficult time manageable and bought our daughter home safely to us which we are forever grateful for.

This year we fell pregnant again and saw our little boy happily grow and kick and beat all odds following surgery whilst being pregnant. Our Family would be complete and everything was looking positive.

Unfortunately, on the 22nd of August 2021, we were admitted to Torbay hospital Delivery Suite where Kate had to deliver our beautiful boy Joshua Michael Heath stillborn. The most heartbreaking and devastating time but again with the absolutely amazing midwifery team, we were comforted and helped through the trauma in the most unbelievable way.

The amount of support during and after from all of the midwifery team has been second to none. every single staff member went above and beyond to make the most difficult time a little easier.

We were given such meaningful gifts donated by other families, such as memory boxes and teddies, and lovely clothing for our Joshua to wear. These gifts were so comforting during our toughest moments.

We are so unbelievably thankful to all of the staff within the Women's health unit in all departments who we came across during both Rosies stay and Kate's pregnancy with Joshua and the care ongoing.

So! I have decided to walk 114miles from LandsEnd and finish at Torbay Hospital With Dave Smith (Kates Dad) in Memory of Joshua and with the aim to raise as much money as possible for each department within The Woman's Health Unit that has supported us so greatly.

We plan to start on the 11th of November and walk over a few days and camp along the way. Of course, we will finish the walk at Torbay Hospital to show our gratitude for all of the amazing help and support that we have received.

Dave Is also doing a Sponsered Skydive on the 15th September 2021 (weather permitting) in memory of Joshua and wants to put all the proceedings to the same cause!! Please use this page to donate towards his skydive also.

Nothing in this world can take the pain away of losing a child, but we aim to raise as much money as possible to donate to the Women's health unit so that they can continue to provide for and support all families in the amazing way that they do. We cannot thank all of the staff enough for making our journey that bit easier.

It would be much appreciated any donation big or small to be raised for such a fantastic and worthy cause that will continue to support our friends and families in the bay!

From Myself and Kate and our Family, Thank you so so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the finish line!!
