Hey y'all. We all know that landlords in Boston can either be peaceful and unbothersome, or stressful and invasive. I'm currently dealing with the latter. Although I have a roof over my head, and a place to sleep (for which I am very, very grateful) my living situation is less than fortunate. Here's the story:
-Our landlords are extremely abusive (AS MOST ARE IN BOSTON) and have harassed us constantly about things like us not telling the truth, demanding background checks for guests in the home, and calling inspectional services and pretending to be me (WHAT?).
-The inspectors came, deemed it uninhabitable, and we started holding back money. We haven't paid back the rent and they haven't been making repairs.
THE DAMAGES:
-The home is falling apart and has caused my roommates, my partner and I serious medical issues (lung infections and other upper-respiratory issues).
-I live in a home infested by mice, leaving me unable to use my kitchen or eat in the home without potentially running into one-dead or alive.
-There's been water damage being caused by one of the bathrooms (leaving us with 1 bathroom for 5 people. Doable, but we're paying for 2).
-When they came in a few weeks ago to cover up a water stain in my closet (with no warning) they didn't take any clothing out and have gotten white spray paint on all of my clothes. (see youTube video) I'm about $1500 in debt for everything I've lost because almost my entire wardrobe, besides pajamas, was hung in there. I have been wearing three outfits for the past few weeks and I need money to replace all of the clothing that is damaged. The spray paint won't come out and the clothes will need to be used as evidence if there's a court date. I can't wear clothes with spray paint on them to either of my two jobs.
Unfortunately, I can't take on anymore hours at either job (i'm already working about 30-35) due to a chronic brain injury that is irreversible. I got four concussions in one year and will have brain issues for the rest of my life. This effects me every single day. I'm asking for this money and this help so I can pay my medical bills because I've been forced into a dissassociative/depressive episode because of the stress that living here has caused me. I need to get groceries to cook at other's homes because eating out is too expensive. I need to replace all the clothes I lost because I can't keep wearing the same thing over and over again, especially in the middle of the summer. I just need a way to do it. I will handwrite a letter to every person that donates anything.. I'll make a drawing, I'll dance for you, crochet you a scarf, hug you, make cereal for you, write a poem for you, make a drawing for you, throw you a party--anything. I need the help more than ever and unfortunately I can't do it alone.
