LandCare family and friends,
Our Houston team members have witnessed the devastation of Hurricane Harvey first-hand and are now struggling with the challenges of rebuilding, many without flood insurance for their homes and property. The trail of damage is long with employees facing temporary or long-term displacement, inoperable vehicles, loss of household items, and family members with loss of income.
Through this, I am inspired by the stories we’ve been hearing. One of our team members rescued her own family by boat and went back to her neighborhood to save several other families on the block. Another waded from his family home in chest deep water with just his grandson and the clothes on his back. Virtually every team member has been impacted and will feel the effects of this tragedy for months and years to come.
As our team members begin to pick up the pieces from the aftermath of this horrific storm, I am heartened by the calls and emails I’ve been receiving from those outside of the Texas region, asking how they can help. I’m proud to be part of an organization where our people deeply care for one another and for their community. To facilitate this chance to help, we have set up a GoFundMe account to collect donations for our team members directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. LandCare will match dollar-for-dollar the donations provided by our team, up to $10,000, and cover the GFM administration costs. Every dollar raised will go directly to our team members to aid in their recovery efforts.
