Lamrock Mission To Kenya, Africa

The Lamrock family is preparing for a three month service trip to Kenya, Africa. “KEN-YA” believe it!?

Dukana is a hot, dry, lava plain with rocky terrain in Northern Kenya. It is located in the Chalbi Desert, 20 kilometers from the Ethiopian border. The Gabbra tribe, with whom we will work, live in huts made of sticks, woven mats, skin and cloth. They move their herds of camels, goats and sheep over a large area in search of water and pasture. A well was drilled in January 2018 in the community where we will live to provide a source for clean, accessible water.

Our 3 months in Dukana will involve a variety of activities to serve our missionary hosts as well as the local community. Lindsay will be teaching school and we will be helping to develop a community garden. There is a radio station tower project that Lukas will be helping with, and Eddie, the resident missionary, has a long list of general maintenance & building projects planned for the two of them. Lukas will also be providing  music for children's ministries. We both will be providing first aid whenever needed. While we are there, we will be taking pictures and video for use in media productions and publications..

Ultimately we hope to have a holistic impact - body, mind and spirit - among the Gabbra peole who need to know God's love for them through hearing the message of the Bible and seeing love in action. We are excited to support and encourage the missionary couple, Eddie and Rachel, who have lived in Dukana for the last two years, establishing a home for their six children and building relationships among the Gabbra people.

We depart on September 5th, 2018 and will return just over three months later on December 8th, 2018. We will  fly to Toronto for a two day orientation on serving cross culturally at the Canadian office of Africa Inland Mission (AIM). AIM is an organization committed to serving holistically with the goal of establishing Christ-centered churches among all African people. After the orientation we will fly from Toronto to London and on, to Nairobi, Kenya, where we will spend two days adjusting to the time change & new environment and stocking up on food and supplies for the next three months. We will also take part in further training in Nairobi before travelling 900 kilometers north to Dukana. Eddie and Rachel Andersen, our missionary hosts, will arrange for our housing and oversea our time, providing support, encouragement and mentoring. We look forward to serving their family and the Gabbra people!

Although we will be working very hard in Dukana, we go as volunteers and need to raise the funds for our expenses. Lukas' work, Bell Mobility, has graciously given him a three month leave of absence, but this will be an unpaid leave. The amount we need to raise is $24,134, which covers all expenses from start to finish: immunizations and visa; international airfare, flights to Dukana, and ground transport; travel and emergency health insurance; housing and food costs; incidentals. This amount needs to be raised by July 30th, 2018.

If you would like to help us meet this goal please donate online to this “Go Fund Me Page”. Any amount is appreciated!

If you would like to receive a donation receipt for income tax purposes, and you are donating $20 or more, you can give directly on the AIM website at http://ca.aimint.org/give/on-line-giving/ . Just select “one time donation” and type “The Lamrock's” under “specific missionary”.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support!
