Lamar Cons Harvey Relief Fund

Harvey has been devastating for our community. While people have showed up in droves to provide clothing and food, what we teachers will find once we finally get into our classrooms (as we saw from last year's flooding) is that some needs were met in abundance while others were overlooked. Some of the families in our school won't know how to collect for needs they might have, so students will be lacking and won't know how to ask for help. What I ask is that you donate so that we can directly fill in those holes as we see them when students return.

I anticipate school supplies, undergarments, sanitary and hygiene products, shoes that fit (many students might have had to accept whatever was available), and other needs we might not have anticipated. I will provide a full accounting to the donors of how the money is spent. I truly hope we can start to offset some of the harm that this catastrophic event has caused. p.s. For those who do not know me, I am teacher at Lamar Consolidated High School and will directly oversee how the money is spent. I will survey the students and teachers for needs, withdraw the funds needed for each item for individual students, and deliver the items-so many of the fundraisers going on are doing the best for the masses; I will be working with individual needs.
