Dress a Lakeland High School Dreadnaught

Tax deductible
Update: Thanks to the Lakeland community, the Lakeland High School Marching Band has raised $71,166 towards the uniform goal. While this is an amazing feat, the band still needs an additional $28,834 to order uniforms for the centennial year. Please consider donating and continuing to share this information to help spread the word. Every bit helps to dress our Dreadnaughts for success and a memorable 100th year of The Dreadnaught Marching Band.

"What is a Dreadnaught?” Many newcomers ask this question when first arriving to the Lakeland area. Lakeland High School fans all know that a Dreadnaught (Dreadnought) is a fighting ship the British used to fight against the French. In 1923 during a school assembly, Principal McKay compared the football team to a mighty Dreadnought “like the ship that rolls over the stormy seas, you have rolled over your opponents!”

Lakeland High School is a school steeped in rich traditions, and the Dreadnaught Band is an intricate part of many of them. From cheering on the Dreadnaught football team at Bryant Stadium on Friday nights to marching in the Lakeland Christmas Parade, orange and black have been woven into the fabric of Lakeland for many years.

Next year, the Lakeland High School Dreadnaught Marching Band will embark on its 100th year. To celebrate our centennial year, the band wishes to purchase new uniforms and dress our Dreadnaughts for this momentous occasion. However, the purchase of new uniforms is not a tiny endeavor – each uniform in its entirety is approximately $600. The band needs to purchase at least 150 uniforms for our musicians. These new uniforms will not only prepare our students for an exciting centennial year but also give them an immense sense of pride on and off the field.

Even if you did not attend Lakeland High School or participate in a high school marching band, the band needs the community to assist in raising over $28,000 to aid with dressing our Dreadnaught students. Please consider supporting Lakeland Senior High School band students and showing them that the Lakeland community is truly Nulli Secundus.
