HELP SAVE LAKE ATTITASH

Thanks to everyone who donated in the past to help us reach our goal. Due to unforeseen circumstances it is likely that we will need to raise an additional $20,000. If this goal is reached or the need for these funds are reduced, any balance will be redirected to the associations ongoing efforts to mitigate and manage the invasive weeds that are found in the lake. This is an annual effort that has shown great results in the past and will likely be needed in the near future at least.
Like many water bodies, Lake Attitash located in Amesbury & Merrimac, MA is vulnerable to cyanobacteria blooms. High concentrations of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are a health hazard.
After several years of research, Lake Attitash Association (LAA) has identified a long term solution to the cyanobacteria problem which is eligible for Massachusetts DEP grant funds. If awarded, the DEP grant provides a 60% funding match towards this $600,000 ALUM treatment. This is an amazing opportunity which LAA is working hard to take advantage of! In order to apply for the grant, we need to raise our $260,000 portion.

-Contact with these algae can cause skin and eye irritation.
-Ingesting small amounts can cause gastrointestinal symptoms.
-Ingesting large amounts may cause liver or neurological damage
Lake Attitash is a secondary water supply for Amesbury, MA and has a far reaching impact on the surrounding communities.
We are a non profit community association, who work with both Amersbury and Merrimac to protect this vital resource. All donations are tax deductable.
