Laila's Transplant Expense Fund

After three years of being on home dialysis, our 11 year-old daughter Laila will be officially listed for her long-anticipated kidney transplant. In the next month, she'll be placed on the transplant list. The transplant will take place at Boston Children's Hospital, and, while we are excited for Laila's transplant and healing, we know that this period will bring on special challenges for our family. With the help of you -our friends, family and community- we hope to mitigate the expenses that are sure to be incured.
At the time of the transplant, our family of six will be split up, travelling often, and there will be many moving parts for at least a month while Laila heals. Laila and our family know the ropes of long hospital stays, but only as patients of Golisano Children's Hospital, which is just down the street from us. We know nothing of long hospital stays in another city, and it is required that we stay in Boston for a month after the transplant
Laila is preparing physically, and we're all preparing mentally and spiritually for what's ahead, but we know that this will be a trying time like no other. Money donated to this fund will go towards all of the small expenses that quickly add up during huge life moments like these. The donated funds will go towards prepared meals, snacks, babysitters, Uber rides in Boston, vending machine food for when the hospital cafe has long closed, a comforting stuffed animal from the hospital gift shop...and so on and so on.
