Laila Surgery - Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)

For us Laila is not only a dog she is part of our family, we found her in the streets in a bad condition and we sheltered her when she was 4 months-old, she went through the crucial moments of our life helping my mother on her final days staying on her side all the time and helping us to overcome my mother death giving us the support and force necessary to move forward in addition to having participated in a change of country helping us to overcome the fear of the unknown and the change of life.
Unfortunately this summer Laila was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) we suffered a lot to find a cure for her, we stayed a few nights without sleeping desperate to see her screaming in pain and crying next to her without knowing what to do, our first visit to the hospital gave us a totally wrong diagnosis that could have cost her life, not satisfied we looked for other options and found a veterinarian who went straight to the problem she was going through.
Without any movement in the back legs Laila had no more strength to lift or to make her physiological needs, one of the disks of her spinal column was pressing on the nerves running through the spinal cord causing severe pain.
For two nights we watched our beloved Laila cry out in pain and tear, which affected in part our health as well.
The only possible option to save her life was surgery her first surgery was ok, after 48 hours she needed to go to a new surgery it was detected a new pressure on her spinal column, this time the chances for her to walk again is 50% between exams and all the surgical procedure everything came back for more than $ 10,000, and for a young couple who are still building their life this is an extremely significant expense and for this reason we made this GoFundMe to help us in this task of bringing our beloved Laila back.
At this moment Laila is under treatment at Northeast Veterinary Neurology in Miami.
We are having a very hard time trying to deal with this situation, anything donated would be greatly appreciated, Laila is our best friend and we not sure what we would do without her.
We just hope she can be able to bring joy back into our lives, and hopefully we can see that tail wagging again to see us.
