Lahweh's Legacy
Donation protected
I will be traveling to Ghana, West Africa in July for a study abroad program for 9 days. Each of us on the trip are working on our own "initiative" to help the community members we are joining. For my initiative, I am hoping to raise money for the community that will help with medical expenses that we often take for granted in our own lives.
Azizakpe Elementary School is located on a small island in the Volta River in Ada, Ghana, Africa. There are about 100 students who arrive on foot or by boat each day with joy, excited to learn. Azizakpe is an indescribably beautiful island with swaying palm trees and white sand beaches, but sadly the families who live there are struggling. The barest of daily necessities are unavailable- no clean water, meager food supply, insufficient shelter, zero medical care or sanitation facilities. In a situation like this, tragedy can strike at any time.
Lahweh is the little boy pictured above and the reason behind this page. Lahweh was a sweet, happy, outgoing, four-year-old boy living on the island of Azizakpe. He loved to dance and smile and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. In 2018, Lahweh contracted a fever, likely malaria, and his mother could not afford the $10 boat ride to the clinic on the next island to access the treatment he needed. Lahweh's beautiful life was cut short at only 4 years old. Now, imagine the things we spend $10 on every single day without thinking about it. That same $10 could easily save the life of a child in Azizakpe and around the world.
When people live on the edge of survival, the slightest medical concern can be life threatening and there is bound to be more young lives at risk. Every single penny donated here to Lahweh's Legacy will be hand-delivered to Lahweh's mother for Lahweh's Legacy and used to provide this island community with medical care in hopes that we can prevent this from happening again.
Please add your voice and your support to Lahweh's Legacy to give children a safer, healthier life, so that someday they can grow up to add their voices to the things they believe in. Please spread the word and help us in the campaign to help save children just like Lahweh in Azizakpe, Ghana.
