Lahaina, Maui Fire - Clemons Ohana
Aloha, my name is Jess Bernal and my family and I are starting this GoFundMe for my aunty and cousins - the Clemons Ohana - who have been impacted by the wildfires ravaging Lahaina, Maui.
My Aunty Cindy and cousins Elisha, Leah, Noah and Haumea along with their ohana have lost absolutely everything. They escaped safely, but only with the clothes on their backs. They have nothing - their beautiful home and everything in it has been completely destroyed.
For those of you who know James “Bobby”Clemons of Lahaina, Maui - this is his ohana. My Aunty Cin and cousins experienced the loss of their loving husband and dad in 2019. This is so heartbreaking that they would now lose their home that held so many beloved memories.
I know that times are difficult for everyone and the past few years have been more challenging than any of us could have imagined. The added destruction of Lahaina and other areas of the island is overwhelming and unbelievable. I realize that this is a lot to ask for, but if there is anyone out there who is able to spare a few dollars then we would be eternally grateful. Mahalo and God bless and keep us all.
Please be so kind as to share this with others and on social media. Mahalo!
**FINAL UPDATE: From the depths of our hearts - thank you. The outpouring of love has been widespread, far-reaching and abundantly overwhelming. Please accept our sincerest gratitude for your generous, kind and compassionate hearts. Mahalo for sharing so much with my family. We will never forget and do our best to extend this beautiful aloha spirit to others.
My cousin, Elisha Clemons, has been made the official beneficiary of the Clemons Ohana fund. With his family, they will decide how best to meet their short- and long-term needs. The initial goal was $7,000 and we have far exceeded that! For those who still wish to contribute, I will leave this campaign up for a while longer. I have responded to each person with a personal note of gratitude. Please check your email. Also, if you reached out to me, please rest assured that I passed every, single message on to my ohana.
Please continue to hold them (and Maui) in your hearts and prayers. This will be a long journey and we are so blessed that each of you has chosen to start it with us. Forever and always, MAY GOD KEEP US ALL!
**UPDATE #2: Mahalo nui loa - it has been so overwhelming to see how many people exist who are filled with love, kindness, compassion, generosity and ALOHA. Mahalo for sharing your hearts with us. We will never, ever forget the hope with which you have blessed us.
There was a big push at the end that allowed us to meet our goal - MAHALO! A few have asked for me to leave this a bit longer as they have just posted my ohana’s story to their social media platforms. We are so grateful for this! May God keep us all.
**UPDATE: To those who have shared so generously - mahalo nui loa. Your kindness, love and compassion are so overwhelming. We are humbly and sincerely grateful for this outpouring of aloha. I am responding to each of you as quickly as I can - with each response, please know that my ohana and I mean each and every word.
We have had several more people inquire, so I’ve increased the goal just a bit. If you are not able or do not wish to donate at this time that is completely understandable. If possible, please share this with someone else and keep my ohana - all of Maui - in your thoughts and prayers. May God keep us all.
