Lagim Tehi Tuma — Thinking Together

Donation protected
Lagim Tehi Tuma (LTT) —"Thinking Together" in the Northern Ghanaian language of Dagbani—is an internship and intercultural learning program and non-governmental organization. Grown from a grassroots collaborative between Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges and local educators in the rural community of Dalun, Ghana, LTT is now also supported by a growing team of educators from the University of Development Studies–Tamale (UDS), community-powered NGOs and collectives in Dalun, and other higher education institutions in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. LTT is a threshold between these communities and individuals sharing the goal to reconceptualize education—formal/informal, community-based, and self-directed—centered by Black Study/Studies and Black diasporic liberation.

LTT fellows engage through language and cultural learning, internships, study, research, and reflection to create a platform for collaborative thinking. Together, we open questions about what education is and can be, intervene in colonial pasts and persistences, and act in furtherance of just and thriving futures.

Our leadership team is welcoming contributions to seed and support our current projects, future visioning, and continued equity in our partnerships and collaborations. The specific initiatives we seek to fund can be found below!

Finalizing our NGO status & supporting infrastructure: ($5000)
We've just celebrated our 10th year and our 1st year as an organization registered in Ghana as an NGO! As we solidify our base of fiscal stewardship, we seek funds to compensate thought partners in the work of taking care to build the organization’s fiscal structures through Black-centered expertise and advising.

Partnership Equity: ($10000)
As we build out additional partnerships and sustain our current ones (with UDS, Lincoln University, and, emerging, Community College of Philadelphia), we seek funds to continue to ensure equitable access by students to our program by matching at least 50% of the costs of participation (stipends & travel accommodations) of students enrolled at HBCUs, community colleges, and institutions that are historically inequitably funded.

Educational & Professional Development: ($5000)
In the words of one of the internship mentors, LTT is "a learn and share platform." We seek funds to offer scholarships to support our program team and network in their endeavors to extend their educations, skillsets, and innovation as stewards of our shared vision.
