LA FAMILIA es una película venezolana que tuvo su estreno mundial en la competencia oficial de la Semana de la Crítica del Festival de Cannes 2017. Fue el primer largometraje de Venezuela en presentarse en esa sección del festival francés, en 56 años de historia.
Se ha presentado en más de 45 festivales internacionales de cine, incluyendo los prestigiosos Cannes, San Sebastián, El Cairo, Karlovy Vary y Mar del Plata. LA FAMILIA fue ganadora de premios máximos en el Festival de Biarritz en Francia, en el Festival de Miami, en el Festival de Cine Latino de Nueva York, y en el Festival de Cine Latino de Boston. También obtuvo premios como Mejor Película, premios de la Crítica y otras categorías en varios países sudamericanos como Perú, Chile, Ecuador y Argentina. En Venezuela, ganó Mejor Ópera Prima en el Festival de Cine de Mérida, el principal del país. Hasta ahora acumula 18 premios y ha recorrido los cinco continentes.
Recientemente la película fue escogida para representar a Venezuela en la carrera por una nominación como Mejor Película Extranjera en los Premios Oscar 2019. Y en cuestión de días, se sumó otro acontecimiento: el anuncio de la postulación para también representar a Venezuela en los Premios Goya 2019, en la categoría de Mejor Película Iberoamericana. Es así como LA FAMILIA debe, en un corto tiempo, iniciar la campaña y cumplir con los pasos exigidos para ser vista por quienes van a elegir ambas nominaciones.
En otros países estos procesos son impulsados en gran parte con apoyo institucional, pero debido a la profunda crisis política y económica que atraviesa Venezuela, este apoyo no existe. Por esto, los productores decidimos apostar por otras alternativas e invitar a más personas a que se sumen a este nuevo reto, contribuir con este proyecto y ser un respaldo para la película y darle la posibilidad de generar buenas noticias para el país.
Nuestro objetivo para la consecución de ambas carreras es de US $30.000. Mientras más cerca estemos del objetivo, más posibilidades tendrá la película de ser nominada.
Los fondos recaudados serán utilizados de la siguiente forma:
-Contratación de agencias de publicidad y periodistas en EEUU y España, que diseñarán y ejecutarán las campañas de posicionamiento de la película entre los miembros de ambas Academias.
-Contratación de pautas publicitarias en medios especializados de renombre tanto impresos, como digitales, televisivos, radiales y redes sociales en ambos países.
-Envío de copias de la película a las diversas instancias necesarias para la votación en la nominación en la cual participa la película.
-Traslados y asistencia del director y los dos protagonistas a los eventos claves para el posicionamiento de la postulación durante el calendario oficial, tanto de los Premios Oscar como de los Premios Goya.

SINOPSIS
Andrés (35) y su hijo Pedro (12) viven en un barrio obrero de Caracas y casi nunca se ven. Mientras Andrés ocupa su tiempo con sus varios trabajos, Pedro deambula por las calles jugando con sus amigos y aprendiendo del ambiente violento que le rodea.
Durante un partido de pelota, Pedro se pelea con un niño a quien hiere gravemente. Al descubrir esto, Andrés presiente la venganza y decide escapar del barrio en busca de refugio.
Esta situación expondrá a un padre incapaz de controlar a su hijo adolescente y al mismo tiempo irá acercándolos involuntariamente como nunca antes.

LA FAMILIA is a Venezuelan film premiered in the official competition of the Critics' Week in Cannes Film Festival 2017. It is the first Venezuelan feature film to be presented in that section of the French festival, in 56 years of history.
The film has participated in more than 45 international film festivals, including the prestigious Cannes, San Sebastian, Cairo, Karlovy Vary and Mar del Plata. LA FAMILIA has won top prizes in Biarritz Film Festival (France), in Miami International Film Festival, in New York Latino Film Festival and Boston Latino International Film Festival. Also Best Film prizes, Critic´s awards and other categories in different Latin American festivals as Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. In Venezuela, the film also got the Best First Feature Film Award in Festival de Cine de Merida, the most important local competition. Up to now the film collects 18 awards and has already traveled the five continents.
Recently the film was chosen to represent Venezuela to run for a nomination in the category of Best Foreign Film at the 2019 Oscar Academy Awards. And few days later, another news had come: the announcement of the nomination to represent Venezuela also in the Goya Awards 2019 race in Spain, for the category of Best Ibero-American Film. This is how LA FAMILIA should, in a short time lapse, keep in the process and complete with the steps required to be seen by those who will choose both nominations.
In some other countries, these long process is managed thanks to institutional support. But due to the deep political and economic crisis that Venezuela is going through, this assistance simply does not exist. Therefore, the producers decided to bet on other alternatives and invite people to join this new challenge, contribute to this project and give the film the possibility of becoming a good news for the country.
Our goal to achieve both runs is US $30.000. The closer we get to that amount, the more effective the campaigns will be.
The funds collected will be used for the following tasks:
- Hire Advertising Agencies and journalists in the US and Spain, who will design and execute the campaigns to position the film among the members of both Academies.
- Hire advertising spaces in specialized media, printed, digital, television, radio and social networks.
- Delivering copies of the film to the different instances necessary for the vote in the nominations in which the film participates.
- Travels and attendance of the director and the main cast to the events considered as keys for positioning the nominations during the official calendar of both awards.

SYNOPSIS
Twelve-year-old Pedro roams the streets with his friends, raised by the violent urban atmosphere around him in a working class district of Caracas.
After Pedro seriously injures another boy in a rough game of play, single father Andrés decides they must flee to hide.
Andrés will realize he is a father incapable of controlling his own teenage son, but their situation will bring them closer than they have ever been.
