Lady's Emergency Vet Bills

On Saturday, August 19, we adopted a dog as a companion for my recently retired mom. It was #cleartheshelters day and we were very excited to support such a great cause. We were also open to adopting a senior dog, since they tend to get overlooked at the shelter.
My sister found Lady on a local shelter site earlier that week, and my mom and sister fell in love with her in person. When I finally met her, I also so how she was the sweetest and most loving dog. Lady was estimated to be 12 years old, so we knew that we may not have a lot of time with her, but we really wanted her to spend the rest of her days in a "furever " home, and not a shelter. We also expected to cover basic vet bills and medication - things that any pet owner would encounter.
That Tuesday, August 22, just a few days since being home, we noticed that Lady was very lethargic. She vomited a few times that day and wasn't bouncing back. We decided to take her to the vet the next day.
The vet ran an extensive amount of tests, including x-rays and bloodwork, to see what was going. They found that she had a "foreign body" in her stomach. They suggested to come back the next day to say if it passed on its own (since it showed not be plastic or metal). We returned that Thursday, repeated x-rays, to find that the object did not move. Lady needed an emergency endoscopy.
We rushed her to the emergency vet and they were able to remove the large amount of grass that got stuck in the lower part of her stomach. We don't know how much grass she ate while with us and if it was building up before we adopted her but we did know one thing - we needed to save her life.
In the short time we have had Lady, we have incurred close to $6000 in vet bills. This amount is of great hardship to us, especially with my mom now on a fixed income. Any amount you could contribute to covering the cost of these bills would be greatly appreciated! We thank you in advance for your support!
