LaDonna’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected

As many of you have heard, our girl Donna has been in the hospital with Covid since Friday, September 10th. She was placed on a ventilator the next day and by Monday, she had to be flown out to Portland, Oregon as she was requiring a higher level of care. She is currently on machines for her lungs (ECMO & ventilator machine) and kidneys (dialysis). We are told she will be there for over a month.

We are making this fund in preparation for when she wakes up and comes home as well as for the medical bills that we know will be coming. We appreciate any help.

If anyone would prefer another option to donate, we also have PayPal and Venmo.

Donna went into the Emergency Department at Kadlec on Friday due to severe covid symptoms. By Saturday, she went into respiratory distress and was put on a ventilator. She was quickly maxed out on the ventilator and by Monday evening she needed to be flown via helicopter out to Portland, Oregon in order to be able to get in line for an ECMO machine.
(An ECMO machine is a life support machine used in life-threatening conditions. In this case it is oxygenating her blood, outside of her body. ECMO does not cure heart or lung disease, it only provides time for the patient’s lungs to heal.)

The flight to Portland stressed her body even more and we were told Monday night that they didn’t guarantee that she would make it through the night. Being the fighter that she is, Donna pulled through.

Thankfully we were notified on Wednesday, Sept 15th, that an ECMO machine had become available. She was placed on the ECMO machine within a couple of hours and was immediately transferred to another hospital. She is also currently getting dialysis and physicians are saying they want to perform a tracheotomy soon.

We have been told that Donna is very sick and is in critical, but stable condition at the moment.
Donna still has a really long road ahead of her. Our hopes and thoughts are positive that Donna will pull through this. She is a strong woman and she still has so much life left to experience. She had just graduated with her teaching degree and was recently hired at Wahitis as a second grade teacher. Unfortunately, she was only able to teach for 4 days before she started developing symptoms of covid. We know there are so many people worried and praying for Donna and our family cannot tell you all how much it means to us. Donna’s mom, Bertha and Donna’s boyfriend, Anthony have not left her side since she was first admitted and they are both in Oregon with her.
Please continue to keep Donna in your prayers.
