# Labyrinth of Freedom – Bringing Ukraine’s Story to America
My name is Gabriel Hangel, and I am the project manager of the Labyrinth of Freedom, a public educational installation operated by the Mrija Association, a Ukrainian cultural and community organization based in Vienna, Austria.
For the past several years, we have brought the reality of Russia's war against Ukraine directly into public spaces across Europe. Together with volunteers, local communities, and partner organizations, we have organized installations in Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and many European capitals.
Instead of speaking only through social media or conferences, we stand on public squares and talk directly with people. Through thousands of conversations, we have seen how powerful human encounters can be.
One of the reasons this project means so much to me is the people we have met along the way. Families whose histories were shaped by war opened their homes to us. Parents from India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates brought their children to the Labyrinth because they believed that the next generation should understand the human cost of war. These moments strengthened my belief that compassion and solidarity transcend borders, cultures, and religions.
Today, we are preparing the first U.S. pilot of the Labyrinth of Freedom.
Our goal is a 90-day public education tour across the United States, working with Ukrainian-American communities, NGOs, local partners, and independent creators to bring Ukraine's story directly to American communities.

• Outreach materials and community engagement
• Volunteer support and unforeseen expenses
