Labor of Love: a peaceful birth experience

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=202427791175919 My husband and I just found out that we are pregnant with baby #2 (baby #1 just turned one year old in October) and we are hoping for the opportunity to experience this birth in a natural birth center as my husband is in the military and was in training during my pregnancy with Madden.

Cameron had just enlisted in the military two weeks after we found out we were pregnant with our first baby, Madden. I was alone the entirety of my pregnancy up until four days before our son was born. With my first pregnancy, I was seen by a multitude of different doctors/midwifes at every single appointment and did not meet the doctor who would be delivering my son until it was time for me to deliver. Though she was amazing and got the job done, I am hoping for a more personal experience this time around.

With Madden, I had a room full of medical students present during my delivery without my consent. After my son was born, Cameron had to go back to training less than 24 hours later — leaving me feeling very alone at the hospital with little help. Now that my husband’s training is done and able to have a more personal experience; it would be amazingly special to go through this birthing center together.

We live across the country from any family and do not have the luxury of having them help watch Madden when baby #2 is born. Having a safe and comfortable space for him, while I am in labor will give us such peace of mind. We do plan on having my mom come down — but if my water breaks early and she isn't here yet, it would be very stressful to have him at the military hospital (if he would even be allowed due to covid stipulations). The birthing center has a full kitchen, playground, and fenced in back yard which would be perfect for my mom and son to be close by. I have never spent a night without my son and I can't imagine being away from him for a few days in the hospital.

My insurance is willing to reimburse a small portion but the full cost of the birthing center must be paid upfront. Whatever I get reimbursed I plan on donating to another mama who wants the experience of a peaceful birth center.

If I don't meet my goal I plan to pay it forward and donate the money I have raised to another woman who is wanting to have a natural birth at a birthing center.
