My Brother Arthur's Fight

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is for my brother, Arthur Rice. He is suffering from Glioblastoma (terminal brain cancer), and needs to have his foot amputated because he has no quality of life and can no longer walk from previous injuries. He needs changes to his apartment to make it more handicap accessible, and whatever you can help with will be appreciated!

Infancy - Before he could walk, Arthur chewed into a vacuum cord and was electrocuted. The doctors didn’t think that he would survive. He gained severe mental limitations and physical trauma. After several plastic surgeries, doctors were able to reconstruct his mouth, but unfortunately could not salvage all of his tongue.

Age 10 - Arthur was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. He broke several bones in his body and was in a coma for over a week. He needed to learn how to walk again with a walker and crutches over the next year and a half.

Age 35 - Arthur had a head on collision. The engine came through the front of the car, shattering his legs and feet. Jaws of life were used, and metal hardware was inserted into his left ankle.

Age 42 - The hardware in Arthur’s ankle bent, and after an excruciating amount of pain, the doctors removed it. There was no bone left in his ankle, so he lived with a cast and could no longer walk.

Age 44 - Arthur was rushed to the ER one night with extreme pain in his head. Doctors diagnosed him with Glioblastoma and removed 95% of a tumor in his brain. Arthur then started chemotherapy and radiation.

Today (Age 46) - Still on chemotherapy and unable to walk, the pain became so great in his foot that Arthur begged multiple doctors to amputate it. It was the fourth doctor that he met (after crying his heart out every time) that finally agreed to do it, because most were too fearful that the chemotherapy he is still taking will negatively impact healing.

Arthur has been wheelchair bound for the last two years in his apartment. His foot amputation is quickly approaching this month, and I am afraid that if it doesn’t heal well, he will struggle to do even the most basic of things and won’t be able to move around his apartment. He will need his bathroom and kitchen changed to allow freedom of movement, and your money will go directly to improving this gentle man’s quality of life.

My brother is a good man, and loves me dearly, but would never ask for this on his own. Thank you and God bless you for reading his story.

With love and best wishes,
