Help My Family Go to the 2012 Transplant Games
This seems like a crazy idea to think about considering all that me and my family have been through this past year with experiencing a very deadly infection that could have taken my life. I am very blessed to still be here with my family and it's exactly why I feel we should participate in the 2012 Transplant games and have the family vacation we always dreamed of. We have many obstacles that prevent us from going and one being what it would cost financially. So this is where I ask all my family and friends to help us.
The 2012 Transplant Games are being held in Grand Rapids, MI from July 29-31. This page is to help raise funds to cover the cost of registration, minimum fundraising goals, lodging and air fair/transportation. Any help you can provide be greatly appreciated. Don't under estimate the minimum you can help with. Every dollar counts!
$180 for donor/recipient $100 for recipient family members Before May 31st the last day to register
We raised the $580 within the first week of fundraising and we'll need to raise the remaining amount before July.
The Norcal team that we will be apart of will offer grants for recipients, donors and donor families. The remaining I will raise is to help my family join with me.
The Transplant Games are an Olympic style sporting event held every 2 years to highlight the success of transplants.
While the games are centered around sports, they offer much more. They showcase recipients leading normal healthy lives, honor living donors, and recognize the sacrifice made by donor families.
Sporting events take place, but more importantly it is a time to share, laugh, and heal.
I am determined to get myself physically well these next couple months to participate or at least attend.
Participating in sports have been a huge outlet for my sons during some of the roughest times. The goal is that we will participate in the 5K walk/run as a family! If I'm ready I'll compete in track and field events. I will start training as my healing allows which overall will promote health!
