Boer Family Medical Donations

Little 7 year old Axiom struggles for his life daily. God has blessed us with such a sweet and caring little boy who brings such joy to each life he touches. From family and friends to staff and classmates at Stowe Elementary School, Axiom is cared about and loved very much! Since birth Axiom has developed very serious health conditions. Mom (Elizabeth) and Dad (Brian) have gone to the ends of the earth to do everything within their power to provide all the medical needs in every way they can. Their love for our little Axiom is endless. Mom and Dad are “always” setting themselves aside, not only surrounding their little boy but surrounding others, family and friends when they are in need. Mom and Dad have open hearts. God and their faith, including little Axiom's, is what keep them strong through this journey. They are constantly in our prayers.

Axiom has extremely severe Atopic Dermatitis (eczema) as well as multiple severe food and all environmental allergies. Allergies and eczema are an auto immune disorder, so keeping him well on a normal basis is a challenge as his immune system is in constant overdrive. Axiom’s eczema is very severe to the point his immune system has dipped severely low and has allowed infection to set in his body through open eczema sores on his skin. He was taken to Blank Children’s Hospital ER Jan. 13, 2015 in a life threatening condition. He was isolated due to the severity of his low immune system and a rare potentially life threatening condition that had
developed. He has recently been released from the hospital and remains in isolation, home-bound in order to give his immune system time to recover and is slowly healing. Axiom cannot return to school for the rest of the year due to risks of getting sick. A simple cold for us is not the same for Axiom, he cannot risk the exposure.

On February 9th,  Axiom, Mom and Dad will make a trip to Mayo Clinic to be seen by a pediatric infectious disease doctor and a pediatric allergist. His doctor has advised them that no one in the Des Moines or surrounding area has treated his condition and he needs to be seen ASAP. We are hoping the Mayo doctors can help us learn how to manage this rare condition and provide any medical information.

In addition to Axiom’s medical needs and health issues, one week after his hospital stay, his Dad was diagnosed with a DVT in his leg and is also scheduled to see a doctor at Mayo Clinic. Due to the severity of his and Axiom's conditions, vacation is running out and Brian must take an UNPAID leave of absence from his job soon. This has put a tremendous financial strain on this little family.

Your donations and prayers will be so GREATLY appreciated, more than what we could ever express deep from our hearts. You will help Elizabeth, Brian and Axiom with the medical bills for Axiom and his Dad. Their routine expenses consists of prescription drugs, skin regimen, EPI pens, routine doctor visits, and immunotherapy every two to three weeks but also must buy specific & safe foods for Axiom that his system can tolerate and not put him at risk which is an expense in itself. Axiom also has medical needs within his home to keep him safe. The family’s needs are great. We hope with your prayers and kind donations it will ease their minds and lighten the road ahead of them. With all of our hearts we Thank You!!!!
