Kevin's Surgery

Donation protected

I got Kevin several months ago during a tough point in my life. I had lost 2 pets last year and I haven't been without a pet ever since I was a little girl. When I first saw him, I knew he was going to be my lil' buddy. He got along great with his brothers and sisters, and was such a curious little guy.

I started to notice after playing with his toys for a few minutes, he would lay down and breathe heavily. I thought it was just because he was a kitten and needed his rest, so I didn't think much of it.

I was finally able to afford to take him to the vet to get his first checkup and to get him neutered. Up until this point, I kept Kevin inside because he had not been neutered yet.

Right away, the vet said she noticed his breathing was "off". At that moment I thought back to when he was a baby and how I noticed his breathing was a bit weird. My heart sank. She took an X-Ray of his chest. What she said next, I was totally not ready for. She told me he had a rare congenital condition called  a "Paracardio Peritoneal Diaphragmatic Hernia". His intestines have gone through a hole in his abdominal cavity and wrapped around his heart and lungs, causing him limited breathing and wheezing. She told me that it can take years off his life. He can't even have his shots or get neutered because even a minor complication from getting him fixed could be deadly.

Since this is such a rare condition, his surgery is going to be really expensive: $4,000. Unfortunatley this is something I cannot afford on my own.

Although Kevin has only been in my life for less than a year, I have grown so close to him and coudn't imagine my life without such a special friend. He has brought me so much happiness and in return he deserves to live a full, happy life as well. It breaks my heart to see him struggle every day doing things that should come so easy to him. If you have an animal that feels more like family, you understand what I mean. Please help Kevin and consider donating towards his surgery. Thank you!
