Jett's surgery fund

I am the mother of Jett. He was born with a disabilty to his right arm. It happened through a traumatic child birth. He weighed10 lbs., and he should not have been born naturally. His shoulders got stuck, and it caused him to have his nerves to be pulled out of his spinal cord when the doctor pulled him out. He had no feeling, and did not have any use of his arm at all. He had his first surgery when he was 5 months old. He  has had 3 surgeries since. He is now 13. He does have some use of his arm from his shoulder to his elbow, maybe about 70%, but only has about 25% use of his hand. He can not turn his arm up toward the ceiling at all.  His arm stays in a bent position, and turns in toward belly. It is also much smaller than his other arm because his muscles are atrophied from not using them. His arm is more of a helper than anything.  His doctor said he needs to have another surgery. This will help him turn his arm up. and make his arm more straight. This will put his arm in a more natural position. It should help him get about 30% more use of his arm from his elbow to his hand. The only doctor who does this surgery is in Houston, Texas. I live in North Carolina.I tried to get my insurance company to authorize the surgery, but they gave me the runaround for months, and then finally told me that they would not pay for the surgery because it was not "medically necessary". Boy, this just burned me up. How could an insurance company say it's not medically necessary if it was going to help him get more use of his arm?
Jett is the most caring, loving young man that I know. He has so much faith in God, that I am truly blessed to be his mother. I know God is going to use him in so many ways.  I would love to see Jett get this surgery, and be able to use more of his arm and hand. That would be a blessing for Jett and myself.
