Reaching Children at Risk in Brazil

We are a missionary family serving through Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in São Paulo, Brazil. This year we (Laura and Felipe) are starting a ministry to reach out to children at-risk who are living in the inner-city slums and on the streets.
God has called us to work in São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. In this massive metropolitan area, an estimated 1 million people live in slums. Therefore, more children are living in at-risk situations in São Paulo than any other city in Brazil.
The slums of Brazil are often full of violence, poverty, drug trafficking, addiction, lack of education, poor living conditions, teenage pregnancy, inadequate health care, unemployment and social breakdown on various levels.
The aim of our ministry is to establish a social/educational work with at-risk children and teens (and their families) who are living in the slums and on the streets of São Paulo
Our vision is to evangelize, disciple, and support the spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and educational development of at-risk kids through weekly groups/clubs, various workshops, Bible studies, regular visits, parent meetings, academic support, and individual, interpersonal mentoring.
God offers His abundant life and amazing love to the many children at-risk in Brazil. It is our prayer that God would lead us and use our ministry to share this important message.
