Darla's Fight!

Hello everyone. On behalf of our family, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read about "Darla's Fight". It started about 3 months ago when my mom had become unable to walk or stand. Later, learning everything under her knee cap was torn. She was able to finally see an orthopedic specialist but could only go by ambulance because she would not walk, stand or ride in a vehicle. The orthopedic did X-rays and found that her femur in her left leg was broken and sent her to Barnes-Jewish hospital in St Louis. In the ER at Barnes they ran a couple tests and found Renal Cell Kidney Cancer which had spread to my moms femur bone and belittled it until it broke. My mom was admitted Janurary 22nd and multiple teams of doctors instantly started running multiple tests. Janurary 27th, she had surgery where the did a partial knee replacement. They also removed the tumor of cancer from her femur bone which was larger than a grapefruit. The doctor was able to save the bone but had to put a rod into the bone to hold it together. Sometime within the first hour after surgery, our mom suffered a major stroke. Which left her without speech and use of her right side (opposite side of surgery). Darla will have to have therapy for her knee and leg and now also everything that was effected by the stroke. Sometime within the next couple weeks she will have another surgery where they will remove part of her kidney or the entire kidney. She will have to do some chemo and radiation. If there are any other cells that have not fully grown yet the chemo and radiation will kill them. Darla is showing improvements but still has a long road ahead of her. Our dad, Howard, has been along side her through this whole thing. Dad will have to build a wheelchair ramp, and the medical bills will start rolling in soon. They do have insurance but as we all know, insurance doesn't pay for everything. I join with my brother and sister in asking that if the Lord lays it on your heart to donate please do so.
