This is Waldo prior to his accident.
I began my search for the perfect dog when I was a volunteer at the Denver Animal Shelter. After walking and socializing with what felt like hundreds of dogs, I was beginning to feel as though I would never find the perfect one. Then I met Waldo. He was filthy, covered in mats, but insanely happy. There was something special about him and I knew in an instant that he was the dog for me. I couldn't have been more right. Waldo has a big underbite, a bit of a lazy eye, and a constantly wagging tail. He is super goofy, loving, and beloved to lots of people and dog friends.
Despite his adorable teddy bear face, Waldo loves the outdoors; his favorite thing to do is hike in the mountains. His tail never stops wagging, and even after a six hour hike, regardless of being exhausted and covered in mud, his tail will still be swaying back and forth.
Last night, Waldo was struck by a car in front of our home and sustained broken ribs, abrasions and lacerations, and had fluid build up around his bladder. At this time, his medical bills are around $4,000. We (Waldo's owners) are both teachers on a limited income and are looking for some financial help to bring our furry friend home and get him in the great outdoors again. We appeciate anything you are willing to donate.
Thank you so much from our furry family to yours.
