Carl's Fundraiser for Cancer

My loving father, Carl Silvestrone, just recently passed away after a noble battle against pancreatic cancer. Throughout his life, Dad touched the lives of those around him by being an all-around caring person and ingenious handyman.
I'm sure that all of you can remember a time (or multiple times!) when my dad fixed something for you or helped you in some way. Whether he drove you somewhere on a school bus, tuned-up your car when you found yourself in a bind, or gave you advice on how to fix something yourself, Carl made just about everybody's life a bit better--and easier-- at one point or another.
So, of course, it shouldn't surprise you one bit that he wanted to continue to spread his love after he passed.
For that reason, we are raising funds for two charities that were a big part of my dad's life:
First, we would like to donate to Pan Mass Challenge, which is a charity where kids are making a difference in the fight against cancer. He spun the cotton candy at their annual PMC Bedford Bike Ride and was a strong supporter of the cause.
Second, we would like to donate to Pancreatic Cancer research to help put an end to the disease that took him away from us way too early in life.
Funds raised will be split evenly and donated to the aforementioned causes.
Please, any donation, big or small, would go a long way.
We'd love for you to share a written memory of my dad with your donation so that we may look back and celebrate his life and accomplishments! Donations may also be made by cash or check at his “celebration of life” birthday party on Friday, February 13th. Details below:
At Carl’s request, there will be a celebration-of-life fundraiser instead of traditional services. This celebration will take place on his birthday, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Saint Michael’s Parish Center from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Anybody and everybody who knew Carl or his family is invited. Please, no black attire. This event is meant to be uplifting and semi-casual. We want to commemorate the life of a happy and caring person while raising funds for two charities that struck close to home with Carl: Pan Mass Challenge and Pancreatic Cancer research. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we will gladly accept donations for these two causes at the event via cash, check, or online payment. 100% of the proceeds will be split evenly and donated. At 6:00 p.m., there will be an “open-mic” for anybody who would like to share memories of Carl. We will end the event with a birthday cake and moment of silence in Carl’s honor.
