The Early Childhood Special Education pre-school in Dexter services the children of Dexter who are between the ages of 3 and 6 years old and who have special needs.
The families of our students fund-raise to pay for Music Therapy for their children. This GoFund page is being initiated by one of our parents. Without funding, we will have to cancel this wonderful program.
Music therapy addresses some of the challenges of our students in an environment that is naturally engaging through music.
Some of the goals that are targeted are language development, peer interactions, motor skills, eye contact, joint attention, turn taking, working
memory, imitation and pre-academic skills.
Our music therapist is Mike Brownell, who is a board certified music therapist with 15 years of experience working with children with special needs.
