Hello family and friends! I pray this message finds you all in good health, full of faith and with many blessings! It's a new year which brings with it new goals! This year my goal is to live honestly, to believe deeply and proceed fearlessly. In order for me to achieve my goals, I must start by being honest with myself and with you. I've been living with a secret, partially due to being ashamed of something that is completely out of my control but mainly because of my denial of its fate. At age 15, I was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease called retinitis pigmintosa (RP). This genetic disease claims peripheral and night vision, causes vast blind spots, tunnel vision and ultimately leads to complete blindness. Upon learning of my diagnosis, I eventually found that while there is endless research and studies being done, there is still no cure for RP. Believing that I may never see my daughters walk down the isle or see the faces of my grandchildren, this is a diagnoses I refuse to accept and vowed to fight it until the final case has been studied and cure is discovered.
While a cure and prevention is still unknown, there is a proven treatment to prevent further deterioration. Dr. Yu is a world renown doctor who has successfully treated patients with RP for over 16 years through holistic medicine in his Vancouver Canada office. Some patients have experienced extraordinary gains in their vision after only the first week of treatment.
The results have been long lasting for most, with some follow up treatments.
The treatments are very aggressive and require a two week stay in Vancouver every 3 months for the first year with only follow up treatments in the years following. Because they are considered holistic, currently my insurance provider does not provide coverage for the costly treatments.
I am humbly asking for each of your prayers and support on my journey. I am feverishly seeking assistance and funds afford me the treatments of Dr. Yu , so I can see the world again. My goal is raise enough money to help cover the cost of travel and treatments for the first year into the follow up treatments next year.
