Disabled Marine in need of help

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page

So here is my issue

I’m a medically retired disabled vet, United States Marines from 1994-2000. I am rated at 70% through the VA and have been unable to work since 2003. I am in a near constant war with the VA attempting to be properly paid for my disabilities and have a lawyer working on making that happen, unfortunately, even after requesting help through my local elected officials that adjudication will not come for at least another 18 months… and that is if I am lucky.

Similar issue with the Social Security department, I am on the near endless list of disabled vets that are not properly treated or paid by the VA who have sought assistance through SSD (Social Security Disability) and am currently in the process of having my case reviewed… this may take up to 6 months.

Like a lot of vets caught in the red tape I became homeless in august of 2014, I was lucky enough to qualify for assistance through SSVF, a charity that gives us emergency assistance to have a roof over our heads, and was fortunate enough to not be put on the streets because of them. I can’t say enough good things about them, they really saved my bacon.

About 3 months ago a friend bought me a $700 Jeep that was to be my means of transportation back and forth to the VA, grocery store etc. Nothing fancy, no frills kinda thing, just something I could drive to get to where I needed to be for health and wellness issues. It was truly one of the best days I have had in a long time, I finally had a measure of stability.

Now that you have the back story, here is why I am here today.

Well…. Turns out you do in fact get EXACTLY what you pay for… After putting “newish” tires on it and replacing the battery everything that could go wrong DID go wrong. An electrical issue presented itself, one that has, to this point, cost and additional $550 to fix… one that is now proving itself to be completely unfixable… in essence I have a brick on bad wheels sitting in a parking spot.

I have gone through every other available resource to attempt to find vet specific assistance for this issue, but unfortunately, there are so many of us out here in need that the official sources are out of cash.

What I am asking for is your help in replacing my Jeep. My medical situation is such that I have frequent doctors appointments, I have no family remaining, and my friends are either not close enough to be able to give me a ride on demand for all the things a person would normally need a car for or are themselves in similar circumstances as myself.

I’d give just about anything to not be in a situation in which I had to ask the population in general to help me out but unfortunately I no longer have a choice, you guys and gals are my last option and last hope, I simply cannot wait 6 months or 2 years for the possibility of money coming in that I am owed in order to buy a vehicle that I need.

Any amount would help, my target number is based on vehicles I have found in my area that would be reliable and safe but I am nothing if not adaptable and will apply whatever is donated to the cause of buying a new vehicle, even if it is only one that will last long enough to make it 6 months down the road.

Now to the sad reality. There are a LOT of scammers out there that claim to be disabled vets in order to make a personal gain, Stolen Valor is a real thing, and for that reason I want to ensure that any of you with any questions will have them answered. I will be more than happy to provide a copy of my DD-214 or any other proof you may wish in order to assure you that I am not one of the scum bags that claim the title in order to soften hearts.

To those who DO donate… Thank you… sincerely and from the bottom of my heart, I’m not a fan of having to ask the world to help me with my problems when I know how many others are in need and if you feel that your money would be better spent on one of those more noble causes, believe me, I understand.

Thank you for reading my plea and considering my case.
