Hi, my name is Madison Kiley Macias, but everyone knows me simply as Maddie. I am a senior at Rio Hondo High School where I have been a member of the RHHS Varsity Cheerleading Squad and the RHHS Band/Color guard.
I had led a pretty normal teenager's life until June 29, 2012. My family and I received devasting news when I was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. We have faced this tremendous obstacle with strong faith and courage. I continue to remain optimistic and upbeat believing that God will restore my total health.
Since my initial diagnosis, I have undergone two brain surgeries, 53 radiation treatments, and aggressive chemotherapy. I have received treatments at Texas Children's Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. I am hoping to receive an experimental treatment at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California in February.
I have lost count of the number of times I have been to Houston and stopped at Buc-ee's along the way. The numerous trips and extended stays at The Ronald McDonald House in Houston were both mentally and financially exhausting for me, my mom Elaine, my dad Albert, and my sister Averie, as well as my extended family and friends.
I have never once complained about the hand of cards that I have been dealt. Because as I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I fear no evil because Jesus is by my side. I feel that there is a greater purpose for my life and hold true to my faith in Jesus.
As I prepare for this next stage in my healing, I humbly ask for your financial support. These donations will assist me and my family for a possible extended stay in Los Angeles. God Bless You.
