Help save my Honda Del Sol!

Donation protected
I bought my 1994 Honda Del Sol in 2005. It was originally red with a black door on the drivers side. In 2008, a friend of mine offered to give me a deal and paint the whole car. He took it to his shop, which was about an hour away from me. Months went by with constant excuses as to why it wasn't done. He kept demanding more money on top of what I had already paid him for paint. Finally, after him not returning my calls for over a month, my wife and I made the trip to his shop.

That is when I discovered that he had left town. He stole all of my rare parts, just leaving the shell in his garage.   He never spent a dime of the money I paid him to do anything to my car.  The Del Sol was stripped of everything. He even stole my CDs that I accidentally left in the car! I managed to get into the garage to at least get my shell back, and thankfully I still had the motor at my own house.

It took years to save up the money to not only cover what money I had lost, but also to cover the cost to have it painted. In 2011, we had finally saved enough cash. Then I got a call that changed my life. My mother was in the hospital. She had ovarian cancer and the Dr's did not think she would make it. My wife offered to quit her job and stay with my mom full time, but we would have to move her from Memphis, TN to Indianapolis, IN. My mom spent 8 months in the hospital. Sadly, my entire car fund was spent on her care, because disability did not kick in for a few months.

In 2012, I built up a reserve again and finally had the car painted from red to the green I had always desired.  But I was still missing the parts that had been stolen that I needed to put it back together.

In 2013, my wife and I decided to move to Charleston, SC.  So we loaded up a moving van and all of our cars.

I spent the next two years trying to save up money, but something always seemed to happen. Things looked up at the beginning of this year. We were expected to get a good tax refund, and my wife and I agreed to finally spend money on it to get it back to a running condition.

Then on January 8th, 2015, we found out my wife had a Fibroud Tumor on her uterus. She was going to need surgery to repair it. Insurance only would cover so much, and we had to come up with $1100 UP FRONT for her surgery. So my car fund, once again, was gone.

Providing for my family has always been my #1 priority and my car has suffered as a result. Right now, I could get my car running with around $2000. It wouldn't be up to what I was hoping, but it would at least be running. Help my dream car come true!
