Hi! My name is Katherine Downie. I am an artist and an art educator.
It has been my dream for many years to be able to do what seems impossible: to actually live my life as an artist! I love to teach and interact with the community, and feel like one of the best ways to give back is to provide bright, vibrant artwork to bring some happiness and color into your homes.
I've been inspired by a poem written in the 13th Century by Mosleh Eddin Saadi:
If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
I hope that, by you supporting my career as an artist, I can, in turn, bring you something bright and cheerful that will feed your soul. Even contributing just five dollars will get me started on a journey to bring happiness to others through the gifts and talents that I have been given!
The money you contribute will go towards the start-up costs I need to get my art business up and running. This will include registering my business name, making prints from my paintings, purchasing mailers, cardboard backing, sleeves to protect the prints, and building up an inventory. But don't worry, every contributor will get something in return, from a handshake or a postcard to prints, magnets, and more!
