INTRODUCCIÓN DE CABALLOS EN ESPACIOS NATURALES
PROYECTO CABALLO
Objetivos:
- Fomentar el bienestar equino y humano.
- Desarrollar un estudio sobre la biodiversidad y de impacto medioambiental.
- Generar modelos sostenibles en la tenencia de équidos.
La Asociación Proyecto Caballo nace de la motivación de un grupo personas de diferentes ámbitos profesionales, con la idea de introducir caballos domésticos rehabilitados en entornos naturales. Para mejorar la biodiversidad en dichas zonas, y dónde los caballos tengan las condiciones necesarias para que puedan vivir en plenitud su condición de caballo, como sus primos salvajes.
Actualmente disponemos de dos terrenos cedidos, uno de 15 hectáreas en Orfes y otro de 18 hectáreas en Romanyà (Gerona). Necesitamos realizar un estudio medioambiental previo para poder medir indicadores de biodiversidad, es decir comprobar que efectivamente la introducción de caballos en dicho espacio, no sólo respeta el entorno sino que mejora la biodiversidad. Para ello se realizará un estudio sobre la flora, que llevará a cabo el Departamento de Botánica de la Universidad de Gerona.
En esta misma fase necesitamos cubrir el coste del material invertido en el vallado de dicho terreno, consistente en varillas, aisladores e hilo electrificado, ya que la mano de obra fue solventada por el equipo voluntario de la asociación.
Con la idea de hacer este proyecto extrapolable a otras zonas de la península, queremos realizar una campaña de difusión y de colaboración con diferentes entidades. Para ello realizaremos charlas de difusión en diferentes cuidades españolas, las primeras se llevaran a cabo en Madrid, Valencia y Sevilla. Para dicha campaña también necesitamos invertir en mejorar nuestra web (www.proyectocaballo.org).

INTRODUCTION OF HORSES INTO NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS
PROYECTO CABALLO
Objectives:
-Encourage equine and human wellbeing
-Undertake a study on biodiversity and the environmental impact
-Generate sustainable models of horse-keeping
Proyecto Caballo Association was formed through the motivation of a group of professionals in different fields having the idea to introduce rehabilitated domestic horses into natural spaces. Horses could improve biodiversity in certain areas while having the necessary conditions to live their life to the fullest, similar to their wild ancestors.
We currently have two areas on loan around Girona, a 15-hectare area in Orfes, and an 18-hectare woodland area in Romanyà. Throughout this project we need to undertake a study on the effects of horses on the environment, to confirm that horses not only respect the environment but in fact improve biodiversity. Therefore, the Botanical Department of the University of Girona will study the flora of both areas.
During this same phase of the project, we need to cover the costs of the material which was invested in fencing both areas by the association’s volunteer team. This consists of rods, insulators, and electric fencing.
One of the objectives is to make this project viable in other areas of the Iberian Peninsula. Therefore, we are aiming to carry out a campaign to raise awareness of this project by collaborating with other organisations and giving talks to spread the ideas in other Spanish cities. The first events will take place in Madrid, Valencia, and Seville. For this campaign we will also have to invest in our website (www.proyectocaballo.org).
Where are the donations going?
