The Casillas Family

Many of you know Sandra Casillas. Sandra works as the full-time Operations Manager at the Center for Family Success in Rockwood. She is a passionate advocate in the community and works incredibly hard to support her family of six. The Casillas family moved into their brand new home granted by Habitat for Humanity this past year. They spent countless hours building their house from the ground up with dedicated friends and family. This was a momentous occasion in their lives as they became first-time home owners! The kids were ecstatic.

Sandra and her family have also been carefully saving money for years so they could take a trip back to Mexico to visit family. Finally, they were able to travel home last month! While they were away, Portland experienced extremely cold temperatures and the pipes froze in the attic of their new home. The pipes burst and nearly destroyed their home. The Casillas family is currently living in temporary housing for approximately four months while significant repairs are made. Insurance is covering the majority of expenses, but the family must pay the $5,000 deductible and has had to incur additional expenses as a result of this unfortunate event.

Sandra and her family are strong, resilient and hard working. Those of us who know Sandra know that she would be the last person to ask anyone for help and is always doing whatever she can to help those around her. Now she needs our help.
